Description
Francesco Maglia of Milan has made umbrellas by hand since 1854, a practice that places them among the oldest remaining craftsmen of this object in Europe. Their selection of handle materials reflects the workshop's commitment to exceptional natural materials from around the world.
The Indonesian malacca root is among the rarest handle materials in the collection: a root cane from Southeast Asia with a distinctive mottled surface, exceptional density and a warm amber tone that deepens with age. An umbrella for those who understand the difference between possession and acquisition.
