Spalla Camicia
Spalla camicia — literally 'shirt shoulder' — is a Neapolitan shoulder construction in which the sleeve is attached to the armhole without padding and with minimal structure, creating a natural, unforced drape. The slight puckering at the sleeve insertion is its defining visual signature.
It is the antithesis of the roped shoulder: where British tailoring asserts structure, spalla camicia asserts ease. The puckering is not a defect — it is the mark of the technique.
