Description
Francesco Maglia selects materials for their umbrellas with the same rigour that a saddler applies to leather or a watchmaker to movement components. The barked Italian chestnut stick is one of their most distinctive choices: an unpeeled, naturally irregular section of chestnut wood harvested from Italian forests, with the bark left intact to express the character of the material rather than conceal it.
The solid stick construction reflects the traditional walking umbrella form at its most elemental — an object that requires weather to justify its existence and care to reward its owner.
