Half canvas construction uses a canvas chest piece that extends from the shoulder to approximately the second button, beneath which the jacket's lower section is fused. It represents a considered compromise between the longevity of full canvas and the economies of full fusing.

A well-executed half canvas jacket offers significantly better drape and longevity than a fully fused garment, at a more accessible price point than full canvas.
